So, since I have been severely damaged as far as my potential mental capacity was concerned, I have embarked on the great adventure of determining what my fellow INTJians believe in, if anything, as far as nonworldy philosophy is concerned. I have this sinking feeling in the bottom of my stomach that this is undoubtedly a horrible, terrible idea. But just for grins, let me ask you. What are your beliefs and why do you to believe them?

I get bored so easily... once I figure out the basics of a career and have learned most of the principles behind it I become bored and restless. What was once an interesting job becomes unbearable. I was a teacher for a couple of years but quickly figured out that, while I love learning in school, teaching what I already know to others is boring. And I get frustrated when others don't try their best - so management didn't work out too well, either. I am grateful for my teaching experience, though, becuase I think it helped me to better develop the E and F sides of my personality.

Not sure what to try next.. I love school but once I'm out there in the real world doing the job I'm ready to learn something else. Business/finance does not interest me at all.

Also, my N is at 100%! Has anyone else had such a high score on N or know what this might mean in terms of careers?

In particular, I keep reading about how INTJs are supposed to be best matched with ENFPs. Now, admittedly I haven't met many ENFPs (actually only one, who is my Mum's boss) but from what I've read lately it actually sounds like a terrible match. Judging from the one ENFP that I've met, and also from what I've read they seem to be quite unpredictable, emotional, compulsive, and a bit hyper active. Not meaning to bash ENFPs here, but this just seems like a very strange match. For instance with myself, I like to know that once someone makes a committment that they are actually going to follow through with it and not just change their mind on a whim so they can move onto something new. I actually find that type of behaviour very unsettling. I also have a strong distaste for people expressing their emotions too frequently, I find this equally draining.

Anyway, I was just wondering whether anyone other INTJs felt the same way or whether there were trends at all regarding who we are most compatible with.

I graduated from high school in 1987. I perceived college as an amplified extension of high school, in which drinking beer was everyone's major, and that college was nothing more than glorified, expensive job training.

Back then, I didn't need a degree in order to be successful or valued in the workplace. I worked as a staff accountant worth $35,000 per year, with 4 years experience by the time I was 23.

College didn't suit my learning style or fit into my career hours. I felt it insulted my intelligence and held me back, so I had to take responsibility for my own learning. I purchased text books from student book exchanges and studied them on my own. I have an estimated 1500 books in my library, 15 years of work documentation and glowing letters of reference from people with master degrees and doctorates - but none of that seems to matter now, because I don't have a gold stamp of approval from a degree-granting institution stamped on my forehead.

School is different now, with accredited online schools that do recognize that people can learn outside the walls of a traditional school setting, and will give you credit for competencies, so I'm now completing a degree in Human Resources Management; then I'm going for a Master in Organizational Behavior, and possibly a Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology.

Even if traditional college attendance did appeal to me after high school graduation, I couldn't have chosen a major. I didn't know who I was or what interested me - what my passions were... I didn't want to be cast into a mold. I didn't want to be an accountant or a marketer or a personnel manager, etc.

I started my own consulting firm 5 years ago, and since I didn't have degree credentials, I got certified in Organizational Management and Business Development.

you are a respectful inventor.

you are an inventor

Your imagination, self-reliance, openness to new things, and appreciation for utility combine to make you an INVENTOR.

You have the confidence to make your visions into reality, and you are willing to consider many alternatives to get that done.

The full spectrum of possibilities in the world intrigues you—you're not limited by pre-conceived notions of how things should be.

Problem-solving is a specialty of yours, owing to your persistence, curiosity, and understanding of how things work.

Your vision allows you to identify what's missing from a given situation, and your creativity allows you to fill in the gaps.

Your awareness of how things function gives you the ability to come up with new uses for common objects.

It is more interesting for you to pursue excitement than it is to get caught up in a routine.

Although understanding details is not difficult for you, you specialize in seeing the bigger picture and don't get caught up in specifics.

You tend to more proactive than reactive—you don't just wait for things to come to you.

Your independent streak allows you to make decisions efficiently and to trust your instincts

You are balanced in your approach to problem-solving, not letting your emotions hold you up.

If you want to be different:

Try applying your creativity to more artistic arenas, and letting your imagination take less practical forms.

how you relate to others
you are respectful

Your reserved nature, understanding of the world, and faith in others make you RESPECTFUL.

You trust those around you to do the right thing, so you tend not to get involved in other people's affairs.

You have fewer friendships than some, but the relationships you do have are very meaningful and important to you.

Your careful and practical observation of your environment has led you to understand that others' situations can be very complex.

Because of this, you are slow to pass judgments on others, even if sometimes you can't see what it is about certain things that upsets them.

You tend to enjoy the world through ideas and reflection, which allows you to get a lot out of the time you spend alone.

Your friends would describe you as laid-back and easy-going.

As someone who is calm and centered, you aren't likely to rush into things—this patience allows you to see many different perspectives and options.

If you want to be different:

Try letting your insight into the world and trust of others allow you to understand the feelings of those around you.

While you know how much can be learned from observing your world, remember that much of life can be lived by experiencing it, not just understanding it.

They usually have a wide circle of friends. Extraverts are never accused of being aloof or misunderstood as snobs when in fact they're just trying to get a break and recharge.

I also envy artisans in general. Although I am an INTJ I have had a lifelong interest in and passion for the arts; sadly, although I have learned to draw and paint proficiently, I lack that special talent that is required for real originality, that X factor if you will, and I can't help but think that I would be better if I were on the S side of the S/N scale.

And finally, according to Niednagel, NTs suck at sports. It's true that I have never been into sports generally, but I had always attributed that to the fact that I was not raised in a family who followed or played sports. Now I hear that I am simply not "wired" for it at all, physically speaking. I don't know whether or not to buy into the Niednagel theory because I have recently discovered martial arts and have done well learning and advancing in a short period of time. I hope to prove him wrong by getting my black belt within one year from now.

Are there any correlations available of type tied together with incidence of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders (OCD), does anyone know?

Seems likely to me that some types would correlate more strongly than others for incidence and severity of OCD, but the real question would be whether or not in people with significant OCD their type in significant part develops out of or flows from the same organic gene/brain-based causal source as the OCD? [Yes, environmental stress factors--such as the trauma of war--can and commonly do greatly exacerbate the symptomatology of OCD, including bringing OCD into pathological expression when before it was undetectable or well within healthy adaptive bounds, yet the predisposition toward or roots of OCD seem to largely be found in brain structure & function arising from genetic influences.]

My guess is folks with INTJ type also tend to have a higher incidence of significant OCD (both as a healthy trait and in pathological excess) than do folks of other types. Many of the INTJ qualities (which can be distinct strengths in many contexts) have much in common with or overlap with aspects of OCD; maybe they are one and the same.

Another rather tangentially related --and much more idle-- question occurs to mind from the above: I have seen OCD behavior in other animal species (lab mice, parrots, cats, dogs) and indeed at least with the lab mice we definitely know it is gene-based; I wonder, has MBTI ever been applied or adapted over for any other species than humans? Surely, given the differences in personality we have all observed in the various cats and dogs in our lives whom we have known well, there must be a similar kind of sorting possible among such animals if only one knew what the relevant parameters were and how to measure them.

From the tests that I have done I am a pretty strong INTJ. I found a post here that said INTJ's make good engineers, and I think that may make sense. I like thinking about things, analysing and am always researching topics of interest. I'm not really happy unless my brain is engaged and I'm fully absorbed in what I'm doing. I really like electronics and computers, and there are quite a few things standing in my path to do what I really want. I can see the allure of engineering, but my problem is that I'm pretty hopeless at math. I had a bad time at school (peadophile teacher) and left at a very young age (13). I never really did well at math after that, and I don't have any natural flair for it either. I can't do mental calculations, and my arithmetic is shocking. I'm very scared of it too.

So I think that how can I be INTJ and suck at math? Doesn't make sense. But that's how it is. This post was part vent, part asking for anyone who can relate or who has been in a similar situtaion and made it through. Feel free to comment. Thanks.

(Bear in mind that this is purely theory and I'm unsure of my belief in evolution itself) Are humans evolving and changing physically and mentally? Is intuition the next evolutionary leap? It's sort of an intuitive guess, but I noticed some things that back up my hypothesis. MBTI plays a big role in this though, it has been reported that sensors and intuitives are not just mentally different, but actually physiologically different in certain ways, I forgot but I think they tested putting lemon under the tongue and sensors and intuitives reacted differently to salivation. Another thing that seemingly supports my hypothesis is that intuition is on the rise, in the younger generations they are supposedly noticing an elevation of the intuitive population. I think a rise in the intuitive population is necessary to balance society, who else will prepare mankind for the future to come, different types percieve time differently, but who is better than the future oriented intuitive to lead humanity to tommorow? The way I see it society is kind of in a struggle right now, I think there are too many of certain types that are fearful of a future different from their pasts, causing an imbalance that is unhealthy to the advancement of society.

So what do you guys think?

Hello, all

I'd like to share some insights on INTJ/ ENTP dynamics, romantic and otherwise and hope that you will follow up by doing the same.

I am a male ENTP who is lucky enough to have four close INTJ-friends, three male and one female. They are all different within the INTJ-spectre though.

There is a big difference to how I interact with those four but in general I prize them all dearly due to their flair for impersonal analysis and ability to put up a good argument.

As an ENTP I have a need for intelluctual sparring and do not mind bowing to superior arguments. However the reverse also rings true: I expect people who claim to be rational to bow to superior arguments themselves. As you might expect this is somewhat of a problem for the INTJs.

Contrary to the stereotype INTJ, I do not view Will as a merit in and by itself. Clinging to your original argument, even when refuted, is not a virtue in my book. Will can get you through though times. Will can accelerate your career progression. Will cannot make you right when you are wrong.

Also, my parrents likely have an INTJ/ ENTP marriage. INTJ mother, ENTP father.

They are still married although they should not be. Their marriage failed for reasons outside of the MBTI-model, most notably my father converting to Roman Catholicism to appease my mother and his likely psychopathic condition.

I once dated an INTJ. Mentally it could have worked out but I laid her off because I did not find her attractive enough. I did not know the MBTI at that time but if I had known I might also have backed out because of the similar makeup of my parrants' marriage.

Though I do wonder: Personalitypage.com recommeds the INTJ to go with eigther the ENFP or the ENTP. Have any of your tried this INTJ/ ENTP love match? And how about friendships?

If, given the chance to pick one's mate based on type, some INTJs choose a different type - another INTJ, an INFJ, INTP, etc. They "opt out," in a sense. The other types chosen are typically other INs, other NT's. This seems to revolve around wanting a relationship that emphasizes the intellectual connection than the emotional. Reasons typically given for opting out are that ENFPs (with all due respect) are "flighty," "too emotional," "unpredictable," "not grounded," etc. Lest anyone think I am putting down the ENFP, these are some of the characterstics I adore in the ENFP (although I wouldn't characterize an ENFP as *too* emotional - I'd say I wasn't emotional *enough*. By I digress.)

Other INTJs that opt in, as it were, and would choose an ENFP seem to do so because they aspire to have a more passionate relationship, at least outwardly so. More spontaneous, carefree, etc. They believe in the complementarity of functions that results in an INTJ-ENFP pairing.

I'm really curious as to what accounts for this difference within the INTJ ranks. Does it correllate with T-heavy INTJs versus N-heavy INTJs? Can we identify gradations and sub-types within INTJs?

PS I'm sorry for offending anyone -- INTJ, ENFP, or otherwise -- with any steretypical remark or overgeneralizations. There is a lot of room to quibble over the above remarks, but my question still stands, and that's what I want to explore.

Now to the point;

I have had heated debates with ENTP friend on free will vs free choice and to what extent it exists within determinism. It went something like;

1 He thinks free will exists, I dispute his claims by arguing influence of any kind infringes on pure freedom of will.
2 I introduce free choice, our will may be impaired, we still have a choice to call our own.
3 I argue determinism exists, free choice within it.
4 He appears to be stuck in accepting a definition of determinism and refuses to accept determinism and calls free choice a technicality of terminology.
5 I leave angered whilst cursing all phil students.

Now does determinism exist? If so why?

When I say determinism I am talking about all events existing in a totally interrelated string of cause and effect, spun into happening since the first cause. Some would say the uncaused cause is God, his creation being the first cause, others that the uncaused cause is nothing which somehow exploded into everything (first cause), causing what you see outside and what you do in your life. Now is this true? Is everything predetermined by prior causes? Hope my crude definition is clear enough.

I'm actually am more of an IXTJ, but I still have problems with men (actually, people in general) being intimidated by me. One of my good friends said that she was intimidated by me at first. My best friend, who I've known since I was 17 (I'm 32.), said that I appear to have the whole package of beauty (thank God for make-up!), brains (it's called picking up a book and reading), and wealth (thank God for clearance racks!), and that men feel that they can't measure up.

I say/write all that because I'm in a bit of a bind. I'm interstested in a guy who I think is an ISFJ. I've dropped "bread crumbs," but the boy just hasn't grabbed a clue!!! We had a very nice conversation, and exchanged friendly emails. Then, all of a sudden, things turned from "friendly" to cordial. He's never been rude or anything like that. But, the tone of his emails changed. As a result, my did as well. The last email I sent, he never responded to it.

Even though I don't normally play into traditional gender roles, i.e. that the man should show interest first, that's what I wanted because that's the safe route for me as an introvert. When that wasn't working, I took it upon myself to make the first move, but I think that that has blown up in my face as well. It's like I can't win!

For other INTJ women, how did you meet your significant other? Did you have to make the first move? Especially if that person is a fellow introvert, how did you go about doing that?

If you're an introverted man, how did your significant other show their interest in you? Did they have to make the first move or did you "man up" and make the first move yourself? Would you consider it an assault on your manhood if a woman pursued you?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you're intj, I suspect you're here because you find it interesting that other minds work in exactly the same perverse manner as your own. You feel compelled to analyze it and understand it and see if you can find a way to apply that knowledge. Am I correct?

If you're not an nt personality type, then I would surmise you are here for relationship advice. This, to me, seems rather strange since I have come to a couple conclusions in my brief visit here. a) only another intj can understand an intj (despite the fact that theoretically all it takes is some basic logic to deduce their thought processes b) non-intj's are reluctant to follow any of the solutions we might propose to their relationship dilemas and c) I'm not certain there is any real correlation between personality type and relational compatibility (that is, I think other factors are dominate in determining the success of a relationship).

As for me, my C++ project has grown so large that it now takes over an hour to compile, I've already read a significant portion of wikipedia waiting for it compile (that "Random selection" button is a god send... it has me salivating like one of Pavlov's dogs) and I find myself looking for some more gratuitous information to digest. Someone in another thread suggested a book on Chaos Theory (I think) and actually that sound rather interesting since I did enjoy the course on random variables and stochastic processes back in college. But, this strikes me as a more interesting real-world experiment in stochastic processes since one can apply an input and potentially see some bit of coherence rise from the white noise of the internet.

>This (solidarity) only works when people respond
>to a perceived injustice en masse.

Agreed. I suppose this is the part where things broke down for me, seeing that as an unlikely scenerio... in this particular instance with people choosing en masse to not marry.

>Indeed, change will come anyway, with or without us.
>When the dust settles, I want to be able to know I
>chose right over privilege.

Now that completelty strikes resonance with with my perception INTJ 'spirit'.
Whether or not results are achieved by your actions... you are maintaining ideological integrity.... something I often see other types be completely wishwashy about... changing opinions and actions with however they feel at a given moment, outside of natural rational outcomes of their given belief sets or the facts.

In my own personal experience, if there's anything I find gets in the way of my achieving desirable results in a given situation... it's the desire to be on the side of 'right', or to be 'logicaly integrous'. When you mentioned earlier about INTJ's having different kinds of feelings, my thoughts came to this particular idea... as I notice most of my bad feelings come about when in observence of breaches of logical integrity.

A trivial example: I used to have a personal profile on Myspace.com, until Foxnews corp. bought the site. Personally I disagree with the policies of that corporation and I think they are contributing to a dangerous situation in the world. Hence, I posted a final bulletin regarding that issue and removed my profile information. It's unfortunate because I'm overseas now and the site was very convenient for keeping up with the vast bulk of my friends and vice versa. While I'm aware my action produces no significant result in the grand scheme of things and I lose out... to remain 'logically integrous' I had little other choice.

What disturbed me most is that the most vocal and outspoken liberal friends (mostly SF types) simply shrugged the matter off or even became apologists for Foxnews which they've previously demonized, saying "well Fox isn't going to change the site.. so it's okay." As if needlessly contributing to the revenue of a company you deem unethical and immoral is okay as long as they don't tamper with the statous quo. A crime of logic which seems to be a luxury for other types... but if I'm going to rationalize as an INTJ I had better come up with something more acceptable than that.

After reading your example and reflecting on personal experience, this seems to be a familiar pattern observable in my other 1-2 INTJ friends as well.

Sacrficing benefits for ideological integrity.
or
Sacrificing relationships to win an arguement.
or
Sacrificing time, energy, etc on things which don't necessarily produce results... but make us 'right'.

The question annoys the hell out of me but sometimes I have to ask "Do I want to be right or do I want to be happy?"

Anyone else notice that pattern?

There is a lot of different information out there regarding romantic compatibility between types. Among others, I know of the following theories of perfect matches:

- Opposites attract (INTJ + ESFP, ISTP + ENFJ etc.)

- Keirsey: Opposites attract, but N or S must be the same (INTJ + ENFP, ISTP + ESFJ etc.)

- Personalitypage: The dominant function must be shared, but oppositely directed (INTJ with Introverted Intuition + ENFP _or_ ENTP since both have Extraverted Intuition, ISTP with Introverted Thinking + ESTJ _or_ ENTJ since both have Extraverted Thinking)

Based on my own observations, I believe that Keirsey has it right when he insists that N or S should be the same. I also believe that Personalitypage is correct in emphasizing the importance of having the same dominant function. Finally, I believe that, as long as the basic language (N or S) and interest (dominant function) are the same, opposites do indeed attract and complement one another.

I therefore propose the following hierarchy of relationship matches:

---

Condition 1: The dominant function must be the same, but oppositely directed.
Condition 2: The perceiving function (N or S) must be the same.

If possible once these conditions are met, the judging function (T or F) should be different.

---

This leads to the following eight optimal matches:

INTJ-ENFP (Dominant function: Intuition, T and F opposite)
ENTP-INFJ (Dominant function: Intuition, T and F opposite)
ISTJ-ESFP (Dominant function: Sensing, T and F opposite)
ESTP-ISFJ (Dominant function: Sensing, T and F opposite)
INTP-ENTJ (Dominant function: Thinking)
ISTP-ESTJ (Dominant function: Thinking)
ENFJ-INFP (Dominant function: Feeling)
ESFJ-ISFP (Dominant function: Feeling)

---

I'd love to hear any thoughtful comments.

Also, if anyone is aware of a source who has already published this hierarchy, please let me know.

Please Understand Me II: Temperament Character Intelligence
by David Keirsey, Ray Choiniere (Foreword by)

From the Publisher
For the past twenty years Keirsey has continued to investigate personality differences — to refine his theory of the four temperaments and to define the facets of character that distinguish one from another. His findings form the basis of Please Understand Me II, an updated and greatly expanded edition of the book, far more comprehensive and coherent than the original, and yet with much of the same easy accessibility. One major addition is Keirsey's view of how the temperaments differ in the intelligent roles they are most likely to develop. Each of us, he says, has four kinds of intelligence — tactical, logistical, diplomatic, strategic — though one of the four interests us far more than the others, and thus gets far more practice than the rest. Like four suits in a hand of cards, we each have a long suit and a short suit in what interests us and what we do well, and fortunate indeed are those whose work matches their skills. As in the original book, Please Understand Me II begins with The Keirsey Temperament Sorter, the most used personality inventory in the world. But also included is The Keirsey Four-Types Sorter, a new short questionnaire that identifies one's basic temperament and then ranks one's second, third, and fourth choices. Share this new sorter with friends and family, and get set for a lively and fascinating discussion of personal styles.

I mean, if couple's still together after a few decades, friends and family will eventually catch on that the relationship has a certain stability and consistency about it. Why bother with the invitations and the dress and all that weird hoopla? It strikes me as particularly odd that people would think it makes sense to take "till death do us part" vows when such a high percentage of marriages end well before anybody bothers to die. So it's kind of like standing up before your community and knowing you might or might not be lying, but you do it anyway, and then all of the people who also know you may or may not be lying clap, and there are many pictures.

Okay, I'm being kind of goofy, but, uh, just wondering if this one stumps other INTJ's.

BTW, I am generally very good to my friends who are getting married. Had a gaggle of the gals here earlier this week, working on friend Anna's wedding invitations. Even made fresh mango lassis for us. Still didn't get it, exactly, why the muggles care so much about the pennmanship on the wedding invites, but I love her, so I did my best.

I thought online degrees would suit me perfectly. As an INTJ, school is my thing, and I do it best on my own. But what I keep finding in online programs is quite alarming. I keep finding schools that are deliberately trying to create "cohorts" and "communities" in their online degree programs. Those programs require group projects or require that you take all classes at the same time as a group of other people. As an INTJ, that would hinder my education instead of enhance it. Because I work in higher education, I had already noticed these trends in traditional face-to-face classes, but I had not realized it had creeped into online offerings.

Have any of you noticed these same trends? How have you dealt with them? How does an INTJ take the qualities that make them a good student (free thought, independence, and ability to analyze) and fit them into an educational program that is contrived to favor people who learn by talking?

Hm. Ever since I was introduced to MB typing, I've had a suspicion that I'm not actually an INTJ. Or not a classic one anyway. I just took the Humanmetrics test again and I tested as an INFP. The description seems to suit me pretty well, too. Questions:

• I'm in a pretty f-d up state at the moment emotionally — I'm sure that would affect the score, but that much?
• How 'accurate' is the test (any test and Humanmetrics' in particular), understanding that personality is amorphous and description of it are necessarily fuzzy?
• Is it common for people to fall between types? Or am I just a freak?
• Now that I've come out as possibly one of them, are y'all gonna kick my ass out of here?

Thanks for any insight you might have...

I am new to this tribe, so forgive me if I seem a bit out of date here. The keirsey personality tests interest me greatly, as I feel that it does match my personality. But there is one thing I like to clear up, I find that INTJ's are good initiators, visionaries but are not good executors. Its the execution that causes the problem for most people, especially me. Does this fit your personality? If it does, have you found a way to combat this? Please do share, as I would love to hear your strategies in tackling challenges and projects...

My TYPE intelligence theory (within ea. Temperament)

While I recognize ever more the limitations of the MBTI matrix as a description for real individuals - so much individualizing information is necessarily unaccounted for and it seems clear to me that we have "ranges" and tendencies (based on strength of each variable) rather than ironclad types, though it makes it harder to predict others - the INTP in me relishes the relationships that can be inferred within the context of the matrix. Really, just because the functions change with combinations of attributes does not mean people can't exhibit more than one combination on different occassions. We are complex beings.

An idea of which I am particularly fond is that if Keirsey temperaments may be understood as intelligence orientations, a pattern of sub-orientations appears to emerge within each temperament.

http://keirsey.com/matrix.html
http://keirsey.com/personality/nt.html
http://keirsey.com/personality/nf.html
http://keirsey.com/personality/sp.html
http://keirsey.com/personality/sj.html

It's important to realize that the temperaments are based on the generalization of tendencies toward "abstractness" versus "concreteness" or intuitive versus sensorial direction of attention and communication (N/S) and cooperative versus utilitarian implementation of goals (NF, SJ v. NT, SP).

From there, an area of skill or intelligence is defined (reasonably well, I think) in the following categories:

Guardians: Logistical Provision (Concrete-Cooperative)
Artisans: Tactical Variation (Concrete-Utilitarian)
Idealists: Diplomatic Integration (Abstract-Cooperative)
Rationals: Strategic Analysis (Abstract-Utilitarian)

These categories are further divided by T/F for Sensorial Temperaments and P/J for Intuitives into (introverts and extroverts are in the same categories):

Guardians: T-Administrators, F-Conservators
Artisans: T-Operators, F-Entertainers
Idealists: P-Advocates, J-Mentors
Rationals: P-Engineers, J-Coordinators

Now - I find colors to be helpful in the next step. These are somewhat arbitrary - as are the type names, but they are the way I learned them. I will subdivide the types in each temperament into subtemperament based on skill or intelligence attributes. Remember that I'm only hypothesizing each particularly type is a __(blank)__ type of _(insert Temperament)_ intelligence/skill.

* Guardians ("Gold") - seeks DUTY/Security
Supervisor ESTJ (Orange-Gold, or Tactical V. of Logistic P.)
Inspector ISTJ (Green-Gold, or Strategic A. of Logistic P.)
Provider ESFJ (Blue-Gold, or Diplomatic I. of Logistic P.)
Protector ISFJ (Gold-Gold, or Logistic P. of Logistic P.)

* Artisans ("Orange") seeks FREEDOM/Sensation
Promoter ESTP (Orange-Orange, or Tactical V. of Tactical V.)
Crafter ISTP (Green-Orange, or Strategic A. of Tactical V.)
Performer ESFP (Gold-Orange, or Logistic P. of Tactical V.)
Composer ISFP (Blue-Orange, or Diplomatic I. of Tactical V.)

* Idealists ("Blue") seeks HARMONY/Identity
Teacher ENFJ (Gold-Blue, or Logistic P. of Diplomatic I.)
Counselor INFJ (Green-Blue, or Strategic A. of Diplomatic I.)
Champion ENFP (Orange-Blue, or Tactical V. of Strategic I.)
Healer INFP (Blue-Blue, or Diplomatic I. of Diplomatic I.)

* Rationals ("Green") seeks EXCELLENCE/Knowledge
Fieldmarshal ENTJ (Blue-Green, or Diplomatic I. of Strategic A.)
Mastermind INTJ (Gold-Green, or Logistic P. of Strategic A.)
Inventor ENTP (Green-Green, or Strategic A. of Strategic A.)
Architect INTP (Orange-Green, or Tactical V. of Strategic A.)

The reiterative ones iNFp, iSfJ, eStP, and eNTp I think of as hypertemperaments. The hardest ones for me to distinguish were INTP and ENTP - I couldn't tell for a while which would be Orange-Green and which Green-Green, until I looked at what the temperaments sought and realised the compensatory narscisism associated with an extreme ENTP ("look how many books I wrote!") is really a breakneck striving for excellence, while the schiziod hermitude of an extreme INTP is really a desire for freedom (from people, distractions, even outcomes or uses of information) in the quest for a "universal" mastery (ok, really just familiarity) of knowledge or systems.

INTJs are truly strange brew, as are any of the types whose subtemperaments have the exact opposite attributes (N/S, C,U)as those of their main temperaments. I see some of the promient INTJs as laying the intellectual foundations for the kind of excellence they admire, and some as driving through a development that was extremely important to them. Honestly, I only have had strong INTJ tendencies in two projects during my lifetime as-of-yet (the complete revision of a dysfunctional Student Government into an inclusive and project-oriented Student Leadership Council and the development of a MetaBrain Growth Process, which I may prove to be my life's work).

I saw other patterns when I was heavily into this stuff last winter, but none are nearly as interesting. The MBTI system, for all its flaws and limitations, has helped me understand and appreciate different kinds of people.

Feel free to post and reactions or new perspectives on the topic of MBTI systematicity!
