I don't know Calvin Coolidge well enough to guess his pattern (I'm not big on history NOR politics).... but you reminded me of an old anecdote I once heard about Winston Churchill (with *no* suggestion that he may have had INTJ preferences!).

A woman was seated next to Winston Churchill for a dinner party. She was very excited, and at one point leaned over to Churchill and said, "I'm so excited to be sitting next to you. My husband bet me that you wouldn't speak three words to me all night."

Churchill turned to look at her, smiled, and said, "You lose."

Was he an INTJ? He was notoriously thrifty with words. When asked what a sermon
was about he said "Sin." And asked what the preacher said about sin he said "He was against it."

>> ... in an attempt to "fit in" i started emotionalising how i communicate. i do it very awkwardly (too much or too little), and tend to get bad reactions from doing it. can't quite master normal patterns of conversation that isnt like my own-of which hardly anyone is like.
it is necessary to try to imitate how everyone else is for getting ahead or at least making relations with people bearable. because most people you meet are not INTJ's or compatible personalities. <<

I did this too, about 8 years ago... I had to at work to learn to "fit in" (by their standards, not mine), because it was killing my career... and I was working on Telecom parts in the middle of a Telecom Bust... By the way, i could have written almost everything you have said here... In fact, i believe I may have at some point or another... My perception is different now, and my emotions are more outwardly developed now. Yes, I had to try, and it was not easy, and it was frustrating.

>> it could sound cold to the wrong ears but conversation with others even in arguments sometimes merely has the purpose of "learning you". <<

I bet you never raise your voice, nor does your pulse even elevate... it is simply a curiousity, isn't it? Why and how people react, I mean? Of course we care about people, but isn't is so much easier to do it from a distance? where we don't have to be "judged" or criticized by them? The truth is, I am able to get along with most anyone. My experience is that alot of people do not get along with me that well. I have always seemed to be very polarized in my adult life. Either people REAAALLLYYYY LOVE me, nor the HATE me. Mostly it was the 2nd one until recently. I am more like a people magnet in certain situations and places now...

came to an understanding a while back that i am completely non reactive emotionally (externally) so in an attempt to "fit in" i started emotionalising how i communicate. i do it very awkwardly (too much or too little), and tend to get bad reactions from doing it. can't quite master normal patterns of conversation that isnt like my own-of which hardly anyone is like.
it is necessary to try to imitate how everyone else is for getting ahead or at least making relations with people bearable. because most people you meet are not INTJ's or compatible personalities.
it could sound cold to the wrong ears but conversation with others even in arguments sometimes merely has the purpose of "learning you".
im never the aggressive one in a dispute but the logical solution seeker to irrationality. i can feign irrationality to pry out irrational people so i can dismantle and understand their personalities.
a common misconception about me is that i'm unemotional. but i can feel for a person and they would have no clue. stone cold in appearance only.
when i write "blogs" or comments online i make it long to get my point across fully because i dislike conversation going endlessly backward and forwards it is very tiring. i like time to dwell on things before i say anything, so when something is said theres a lot of it.
i think from my own extensive experience of being me not from knowing about myerrs briggs for very long is that we do need to communicate to fulfil the urge to unearth how things and people work to create long term solutions for myself and understanding of others or even improve minds of the people we direct this at.
but i think most INTJ's if they're like me would agree on this one, that self imposed isolation results from extreme agitation at people being arrogant about ignorance or not being on the same wavelength and even worse attacking you for not fitting in. hence the attempts above.
i put answers to some questions i've seen on this tribe in this 1 box of words because spreading answers around the threads would mean half answers messily dispersed.
i could list what i'm answering to but that would be going too far wouldn't it
i would have started a thread as a topic of the above but i'm hiding this under someone elses so anyone casually browsing from my other tribes wont spread what i've said here to everywhere else. i do have tremendous issues with gossips.

I suppose "books get published here" partly because I'm not showing a lot of restraint right now. They also "get published" because these are complex topics that can't be explored superficially using few words.

Furthermore, I know at least one of the "books" available on this tribe was created over months (years now!) of posting after posting. We compiled that elephant one post at a time. (a screwed up metaphor, I know)

Nevertheless, I recognize your frustration.

Years ago my INTJ husband attended an APT conference in Australia. The INTJs were grouped together and asked to explore what irritated them most. When it came time to present, one INTJ stood up and said "unnecessary." A second INTJ stood up and said "verbosity."

When I ask my husband's opinion on some of my posts, he almost invariably says they are too long.
:-(

He is an active member of several INTJ Yahoo Groups where they apparently practice, ah, "minimal verbosity" across a wide range of topics. If you like, I will email links to you. Such a community may be more satisfying to you than this one....?

Please let me know your wishes.

I'm pretty sure not everyone is. Vicki has stated many times that she is INFJ.

Nontheless, I fail to see how personality type and word count translate to a personality trait. I guess you are basing your assumption on the fact that we do not like small talk and long lines of bullsh**. However, this does not mean that when we're talking about topics with depth we will not state our ideas and opinions as thoroughly as possible. It seems to me that you don't want to go through the trouble of reading per se. (But hey, that's you and I'm me so who cares anyway. *shrugs*)

Just my 2 cents.

I think some people here are INTJ and some aren't. Admittedly, the name of the tribe is 'INTJ personalities' not 'For INTJs only' or something to that effect, so you are likely to get people who don't fit that type necessarily. Perhaps you're onto something, why not start a new tribe?

Do INTJs really create thousand word postings? It just seems odd to me. I don't have the patience to read postings that are more than a few paragraphs. So why do books seem to get published on here?
