*gasp* So many INTJs! We are one of the rarer personality types, so it is great to see over 90 of us here!
I'm a new member to this group, so I thought I'd say hello and stuff. Hello and stuff!

Re: Awesome!
Fri, July 23, 2004 - 10:08 PMDoes anyone have any more exact figures on rarity? I've seen numbers ranging from half a percent to 2 percent and I'd like a nice number from a study or something to think of.
As for 'one of the rarer types' I've never seen another type with a lower % of common population, but some of the other types didn't have any average % of population listed.

Sat, July 24, 2004 - 2:07 AMI had no idea that we were that rare. Do you have numbers? How many other Meyers-Briggs tribes are there? -

Re: Awesome!
Sat, July 24, 2004 - 1:25 PMHere's a little breakdown from what I've learned:
Extroverts = roughly 75% of the population; Introverts = 25%
Sensing = 75%; iNtuitive = 25%
Feeling = 75%; Thinking = 25%
Perceiving = 75%; Judgemental = 25%
And so, when each characteristic is in its minority, as with INTJ's, we account for the smallest percentage of all types, less than 1%. We're special, you know it! :) -

Mon, July 26, 2004 - 11:08 PMBenjamin,
Your math would be just right if the traits were associated randomly. But as it turns out, they're not.
Check out the percentages for the U.S. here:

Re: Awesome!
Mon, July 26, 2004 - 11:32 AM10 years ago in high school, I had an economics teacher that gave the test to every student the first week of class so she could 'get a bead' on everyone. Pretty sure I was only the first or second or third INTJ she'd gotten in the many years she had run the test. Worked out well for me since after that I never had to worry about "proving" myself as a student. -
